Even though Sonam is attending Cannes for six years now, she didn’t make an appearance at the amfAR Gala before 2016. amfAR Gala is a special event held every year at Cannes organised by American Foundation to support AIDs Research, HIV prevention and the education needed for the treatment. Every year as the brand embassador for L’Oreal, Aishwarya attends this gala but this year due to her prior commitments for her movie Sarbjit she couldn’t make it to the event and Sonam Kapoor who is also the brand ambassador for L’Oreal replaced Aishwarya to represent the brand.
The ever stylish Sonam managed to steal the show on the Cannes red carpet and people were awaiting to see what she would do with her looks at the amfAR gala. And being her debut at the amfAR, Sonam definitely managed to make it count and took up an elegant Ralph and Russo sky blue figure-hugging gown with golden embroidery. The one sided sleeve and the golden embroidered cape looked totally stunning on the Neerja actress. Adding much more charm to her look she wore huge jhumkas by Kalyan Jewellers. She did a loose middle-partitioned French braid tied up in a golden string at the bottom of her hair and gave a whole new Indian touch to her stylish look. Her makeup was kept very minimal which helped to keep her gown and jhumkas in the spotlight.
Mallika Sherawat too attended the amfAR gala this year and went with a Georges Hobeika pale purple body-hugging ensemble. She kept it chic and avoided the long capes or huge gowns. She altered her gown in the front and replaced with a sheer inlay to show more cleavage. She went with bumpits for her hairstyle done by Dessange which although couldn’t do much to add to the beauty of the look. And just like Sonam, Mallika too kept her make-up minimal which was done by L’Oreal Paris UK.
Both Sonam and Mallika are very frequent on social media and they both took to Twitter and Instagram to share their looks.
